We currently shelter over 50+ dogs at The Ark – rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing. Helping hundreds of lost, abandoned and unwanted dogs across Barbados – none of this would be possible without YOUR help. The Ark Animal Welfare Society is a registered non-profit charity. Financially, we rely solely on donations and fundraising events – every contribution received is to help us to continue with our vital work. Aside for our kennel hands, The Ark is run by a team of loyal and devoted volunteers. Passionate about the welfare of animals, we have a NO KILL POLICY, giving each dog shelter and the highest standards of kennelling and veterinary care – caring for them indefinitely until a new home can be found.
Donations
It costs over $120,000 bds a year to run The Ark – this includes property rent, amenities, vet and food bills and kennel hand wages. We are not just an animal shelter – our outgoing finances include paying for private dog boarding, assisting others with vet and food bills and financing our neutering programmes.
EVERY DONATION HOWEVER BIG OR SMALL IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.
Volunteering
Where would we be without our volunteers? ‘No where’ is the answer..!! We gratefully appreciate, and are forever thankful, for the time that kind-hearted individuals give towards helping our cause. YOU can be part of making a difference – improving the life of a dog that has known nothing but sadness and fear. YOUR help will change the future of a broken soul. ALL VOLUNTARY HELP IS WELCOMED – however long or for whatever task – one off help, or continual, is thankfully appreciated. How can YOU help?

Fostering
Housing over 50+ dogs, and with an extensive waiting list, unfortunately we do not that the space to shelter anymore – and we do not have the facilities to house cats/kittens. This is how YOU can help. Have you ever thought of how fulfilling it can be to foster a rescue dog or cat? By fostering an animal in need, you are saving a life that could otherwise may have died. Every life saved is a triumph..!! Temporary fostering can help an animal to re-adjust back into home life, and give it a better chance of settling in with its eventual new family.
